The Canes have two players who have game-winning goals in a Game 7 of the playoffs, both coming in the 2006 run to the Stanley Cup.
Team captain Rod Brind'Amour had the winner against the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, and defenseman Frantisek Kaberle scored the biggest goal in franchise history: the winner in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals against the Edmonton Oilers.
"It's exciting to be in this position again," Kaberle said today before the team flight to New Jersey. "I think we have a lot of experienced guys on the team and hopefully we're going to win."
Both those games in 2006 were at the RBC Center as the Canes had the home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs. But Kaberle isn't conceding anything to the Devils in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series tomorrow at the Prudential Center.
The Canes trailed 3-2 in the series before a solid 4-0 win Sunday at the RBC Center that forced a Game 7. Carolina won Game 2 in overtime at the Prudential Center and lost 1-0 in Game 5 in a game in which the Canes had 44 shots.
"I think now the chances are 50-50," Kaberle said. "It's going to be a tough game but I think right now we have a little better chance. I think we're going to play with a lot of confidence and we're going to show them right from the start we are ready to play."
Brind'Amour said he expects the Canes to be at "full throttle" in Game 7.
"That's the only way to play it," he said. "I expect us to be at our best."

Sorry Chip, but...
Tue, 04/28/2009 - 11:06 — gf101112In my opinion, the biggest goal in franchise history was scored by Justin Williams. That's the one that sealed the deal and started the celebration!!! The Caniac Nation throughout North America will never forget that one!!! I have the picture of Justin and Eric just after that goal and was fortunate to have both of them sign it this year. Eric in October, Justin 3 weeks ago, both at the L.A. Kings practice facility. Remember me Chip? I had the privilege of meeting you, and talking with you after the practice. WOW! A lot has happened since October! I can't wait until 4:30 tonight!!! Thank God it's on FSCarolinas!!! GO CANIACS!!! GO CANES!!! Good comments Hockeydog!

Mon, 04/27/2009 - 16:19 — HockeydogBrind'Amour and Cole are without a point in the series. That doesn't mean they have not contributed, because the way this series has gone, everyone has done good things, either offensively or by being responcible defensively. It's time for those two to get on the scoreboard, and I'd bet with the empahsis the Devils will put on the top lines, Brindy will tally at least a point Tuesday.

Sorta reminds me of two preachers asking how many the other had the pews...as in the larger scope of it all the Canes as a TEAM are where they are by a ' collective ' group effort made by individuals for the good of all...after all there is no " I " in team is there ?? Yes, I agree it would be nice IF...maybe IF more players did score so there would NOT have been a need to play past game 5...but again...IF...enjoy watching Game 7 like I will...IF any of us wakes up today .....
Go Canes !!
