Forbes: Canes worth $168 million

Bookmark and Share

Forbes' annual evaluation of NHL franchise values ranks the Hurricanes 22nd, at $168 million -- up from $100 million before the lockout, when the Hurricanes ranked 30th and last.

According to the magazine's figures (which are annually disputed and/or discounted by NHL officials), the Hurricanes lost a league-worst $11 million on $75 million in revenue, which is slightly higher than what the team has indicated.

(Forbes claimed the Canes made $1 million in 2005-06, a year the team says it made $10 million.)

Net Worth up ?

Since the Lock out...which really sucked...sure some teams have done a wee bit better but the canes as it has been pointed out, still flounder on the P/L sheet, yet for what the fans do get when attending home games seem to get a "decent" value for the money spent at times. The trick is to have consistancy on the ice which could and would expand and draw in more monies. Who owns the RBC Center anyway ? And finally to my " evil twin"...Play Hard!!...shoot harder !!

GO CANES!!!

$34 million ?

In all seriousness, it did mention that one of the reasons we lost so much is because in addition to payroll we had another $34 million worth of expenditures. Do you what an approximate breakdown of the amount would be, Luke? It surely can't be in marketing and promotions since they don't do a very good job of it. Will the new arena deal lower that amount considerably?

So, Luke, can you explain to

So, Luke, can you explain to us how the NHL revenue sharing formula relates to this and then equates to the player's salaries, and, of course, don't leave out how concessions factors into the overall revenue stream... oh, and then there's the issue of ticket prices... woah, Luke, calm down. Stop pointing that gun at your laptop screen. And no more Starbuck's for you this afternoon. I'm just kidding, alright...

Wooley Imbibe

Who says laptops aren't little weasles in onxy clothing!? Write your top 7 ape sounds of all time... If you dare, one would seem rainy... Heirarchy, always is the red tape of submarine talk...
