The Canes have reassigned forward Zac Dalpe to the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).
Dalpe played in seven games with Carolina during the recall, and scored his first NHL goal in the Hurricanes’ game against New Jersey on Jan. 1.

Dalpe, 21, started the 2010-11 season with the Hurricanes, and has scored three goals and earned one assist (4 points) in 14 NHL games this season. With the Checkers, the Paris, Ont., native has scored 11 goals, earned 12 assists (23 points) and compiled a plus-11 plus/minus rating in 23 games.

"It more about the minutes," Canes coach Paul Maurice said today. "We have people who are getting healthy and we don't want extra bodies not playing. Zac has shown improvement this year and we want that to continue. We don't want his minutes to fall into the 5- or 6-minute range too long."

Dalpe Has Star Potential

Dalpe has the makings of a star.  He has all the tools: size, speed, agility, fantastic shot, superb hands, great vision of the ice, excellent character, and the ability to be at his best when the game is on the line.  It's only a matter of time before Dalpe is making a significant contribution to the team.

No surprise here.

No surprise here.

He'll be back.

He'll be back.
