Cole, Ruutu, Walker miss practice

Bookmark and Share

Canes forwards Erik Cole, Tuomo Ruutu and Scott Walker were held out of practice today at the RBC Center, but Canes coach Paul Maurice said he expected all to be available for Game 4 against the Penguins.

Ruutu missed Game 2 with an ankle sprain but returned for Game 3 and had 7:49 of ice time. Walker was slammed into the boards by the Pens' Sergei Gonchar in the third period and did not return to the game.

"With (Ruutu) we see it's more of a day to day. The other two guys it's fine," Maurice said. "We didn't use (Ruutu) a whole lot. A lot of what he likes to do is bang and hit and get on the forecheck.

"If he feels strong enough that he thinks he's going to be able to do that, then we'll consider him. If it's not, we won't."

On the lines today, Eric Staal centered Sergei Samsonov and Drayson Bowman, Matt Cullen centered Chada LaRose and Ray Whitney, Rod Brind'Amour centered Patrick Eaves and Michael Ryan and Jussi Jokinen worked with wingers Ryan Bayda and Pat Dwyer.
