Canes to call up two from Albany

Bookmark and Share

Forward Sergei Samsonov sat out another practice today and will not play Thursday against the Predators, coach Paul Maurice said.

With forwards Erik Cole and Chad LaRose still being evaluated for their injuries and still off the ice, the Canes will recall forwards Zach Boychuk and Jiri Tlusty from Albany (AHL). Both played Saturday in New York against the Rangers.

Maurice said the callups would be at practice tomorrow, adding, "I'm certainly comfortable with the two we had."

Boychuk was effective in his 10 minutes of ice time and Tlusty had an assist on Tom Kostopoulos' goal as the Canes topped the Rangers 2-1.

On the status of Cole (upper-body injury) and LaRose (lower-body), Maurice said LaRose could be back on the ice next week but that Cole's return is uncertain.

"How long it takes after we push him for a while, we'll see," Maurice said of LaRose.  "Erik, we're still running tests and getting results back to make sure there's healing there, and there nees to be healing before he gets back on the ice."

Bowman missed four weeks

Bowman missed four weeks with an injury. He played Jan 2 against Syracuse but was -3 for the game. Based on statistics, the next callup from Albany will be Samson not Bowman. But Ryan, after he works himself into game shape, is another possibility.

speaking of Jrs

it be 2-2 at the end of the 1st. period.man can those kids fly !!

The Canes are Good,My Grandkids are Better, and Life is Great !!
Go Canes !!

Let's make a deal!

Any way we can keep LaRose (heart but no finish) and Cole(some finish but no heart) on IR and let them get good and rested and healed up and give Boychuk (speed/skill) and Tlusty (point per game) some more NHL game experience? Seems like a fair trade...

mileage

Those frequent flyer miles are quickly adding up. With Tlusty and Boychuk being the call-ups, it begs the question of Bowman's status.
