Canes recall Ryan from Albany

Bookmark and Share

With forward Scott Walker not expected to play in Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the RBC Center, the Hurricanes recalled forward Michael Ryan from their AHL affiliate, the Albany River Rats on Wednesday.

Walker didn't feel well after Tuesday's loss to the New York Rangers in Manhattan.

Ryan, a Boston native, got his first NHL action in two games this season against the Ottawa Senators and Atlanta Thrashers, after the Hurricanes signed him as a free agent at the end of October. He played scant minutes, though.

He had been on a bit of a tear lately, getting 13 goals in the last 10 games. Ryan, 28, has a team-high 23 goals and 36 points in 36 games.

walker has played pretty

walker has played pretty consistently this season, but it seems he's still suffering hand problems when he has scoring chances. i'm looking forward to seeing what ryan can do, and if it's has a hot hand it can only help us.

Confidence

Scoring in the AHL is not the same as scoring in the NHL but he's had a hot  hand down there so maybe he can bring a little confidence up with him.  He should get a better look at the ice tonight than with  his first cup of coffee with the big club.

Yeah I totally agree with

Yeah I totally agree with you, some new blood might add some energy to our forwards.  Hopefully he doesn't get stuck on thr 4th line and only see the ice for about 5 minutes...

only time

and how healthy we remain...will answer all those questions and much more. the Spokane Chiefs won 9-1 but the Jr. Canes lost...BAH HUMBUG !!!!

awesome

This team is becoming a joke and a laughingstock across the league. I've seen more size and grit in women's college teams.

Maybe Ryan can score in

Maybe Ryan can score in Raleigh. So far, the Maurice-second-edition Canes are scoring slightly fewer goals per game, on average, than the Laviolette-edition Canes. Remembering the Maurice-first-edition, is anyone surprised?

Of course, back in the Maurice-first-edition, Glen Wesley was in his prime and was the mainstay of a Canes consistently good PK. So far, none of the Canes D's shows the kind of night-after-night dependability on the PK that Wesley provided, at least through the Stanley Cup season.
