The Canes on Monday recalled goaltender Justin Peters from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) on an emergency basis.
Goaltender Cam Ward has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a third-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) against Florida on Sunday.
Peters, 26, has posted a 22-12-1 record and a 2.29 goals-against average in 37 games this season with Charlotte. He is second among AHL goalies with six shutouts and his 22 wins rank fourth in the league
