The NHL has announced that the exhibition game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers scheduled to take place on Wednesday has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
South Florida is currently under a tropical storm warning, with effects expected to be felt in the region within the next 36 hours.
"This is not a bad thing for us," general manager Jim Rutherford said. "One disappointment is it would have given us another look at some players, but we're already down to a manageable number players-wise. Going to Florida, getting back late, then leaving for Europe on Friday -- it's probably good in the long run that we're not going to Florida."
