Canes prepare for Red Wings

Rod Brind'Amour sat out today's practice at the RBC Center, but Canes coach Peter Laviolette said not to worry.

It was a precautionary thing, he said, and Brind'Amour would be ready for Monday night's game against the Detroit Red Wings at the RBC Center.

"We need him (Monday) night, so it's best to give him some time," Laviolette said.

Brind'Amour, coming off arthroscopic knee surgery a month ago, played almost 18 minutes Friday night in the Canes' 6-4 season-opening win over the Florida Panthers and then 20:23 Saturday night as Carolina rallied to win at Tampa Bay, 4-3 in overtime.

Brind'Amour scored goals in both games, and it was his goal in the final seconds of the second period against the Lightning that jump-started the Canes' comeback.

With Brind'Amour out of practice today, the lines had a different look. Patrick Eaves centered the line with Dan LaCouture and Wade Brookbank. Brandon Sutter centered a line with Chad LaRose and Ryan Bayda, and Matt Cullen's line had Sergei Samsonov and Zach Boychuk.

Eric Staal's wingers were Ray Whitney and Tuomo Ruutu.

Reporting

Chip, you're doing just fine. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!

ahaha you tell em chip. love

ahaha you tell em chip. love the blog and thanks for keeping us up to date.

Why is Eaves sidelined to the 4t line?

He was supposed to have a breakout season.
Any rumors? Nagging injury? Shoulder problems are back?

Eaves Status

They made a comment on the saturday night broadcast that Laviolette was not happy with the level of effort Eaves was giving.  That, coupled with the re-arranging of the lines late in the game put Eaves on the fourth line.  This early in the season I wouldn't worry about it.  Hopefully it's just a few games and he can play himself out of it.  If he takes it as a chance to re-dedicate himself then it will just be a temporary move.

Wow, Chip. Brind'amour is

Wow, Chip. Brind'amour is coming off knee surgery? Really? I had no idea!

The knee

Amazingly enough, there are some people who might read this blog for the first time, especially with the team winning the first two games. Not everyone out there knows everything like you do.

Okay. Well I don't know who

Okay. Well I don't know who any of the players you mentioned in your line combinations are. Can you give me a detailed biography of each one?

Trust me

Trust me, anyone who takes the time to check out the blog knows that Roddy had knee surgery--twice (ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic).  Don't underestimate the fan base--or your readership. We got use to insightful investigative reporting--you have big shoes to fill--its up to you to fill them.

good comeback, Chip. Keep up

good comeback, Chip. Keep up the good work.

Some people

While I appreciate people who keep up with this blog and the Canes, everyone must remember that there are some people that only check in on our Canes occasionally.  Not everyone eats, sleeps and lives for our Canes the way most of us do.  We must remember that the blog is for everyone, not just the devoted fans that watch this blog everyday.  You are doing a good job, Chip.  Please keep us all well informed.
