The Canes today recalled defenseman Jay Harrison from the Albany River Rats (AHL) and reassigned defenseman Bryan Rodney to the Rats.
Harrison played in 10 of the Canes' first 13 games before being sent to Albany on Nov. 3. He averaged 12:05 of ice time per game and had a goal and two assists.
In 15 games with the Rats, Harrison had a goal, seven assists and a plus4 plus/minus rating.

Sun, 12/06/2009 - 17:01 — louis12580I think that the club is looking to see who will be the best fit for right now on the blue line. While Rodney gives them a more offensive minded guy, the problem is on over all defense. I am reading on several other sites, The fourth period and our buddy Eklund's Hockey Buzz that Buffalo is very interested in Ray and that several veterans are being actively shopped. If the Sabres are that interested, then Jim needs to go for the gusto and ask for Pominville or if he wants a d-guy, the kid who's the rookie. The one humorous post by Eklund is that Crosby is lobbying hard for Jack Johnson (yes that one). First words out of the Kings' g.m..... Evegeni Malkin.
Wallin and Rodney
Sun, 12/06/2009 - 16:18 — abramsdougIt appears Wallin may be out and that Rodney would then be called up. Interesting to see what transpires and how the team plays without Wallin. Opinions seem to differ on Wallin's effectiveness.
Wallin is no all-star, but
Sun, 12/06/2009 - 18:25 — ctillWallin is no all-star, but he usually plays a competent game... sometimes better, sometimes worse. He worked his way into the lineup in 2001-02 during the run to the Cup series. His chronic groin injury (per David Droschak) has been a limitation, and at age 34 he has arguably lost a step. That said, he has been an honorable competitor over the years. My guess is that the forthcoming youth movement will sweep him out in due course.
Wallin
Mon, 12/07/2009 - 00:02 — procellaeThis is Wallin's last season, no doubt. His contract expires when the year ends and with all of the young kids, he will not be resigned.
In my opinion, Wallin has great positioning and strength but is slow. I believe he is a more competent defender than Ward and Alberts are.
I share the same opinion as
Sun, 12/06/2009 - 18:09 — dustinlammersI share the same opinion as you about #7.
It will be interesting to see who else gets a chance from Albany, maybe Carson next?
Carson called up
Sun, 12/06/2009 - 18:40 — abramsdougI am watching the River Rats game on AHL live. Carson is not playing; and the announcers are saying Carson was called up. Rodney is playing; and is doing well. Tlusty is playing as well (he is #20).
Tlusty is fast and has great moves. Also Tlusky is a very smooth and graceful skater. He is playing on a line with Samson. I will be interested to see if they put him with Boychuk and Samson at some point tonight. Boychuk has such great acceleration sometimes he looks like he is shot out of a rocket. To me Boychuk and Tlusty look like the two fastest skaters on the ice.
I bet
