The Hurricanes will have 59 players in its preseason training camp, which opens Sept. 19.
Topping the free agents coming in for tryouts are forwards Jeff O'Neill and Dan LaCouture. O'Neill, a former Canes forward, was out of hockey last year but is hoping to make a comeback in Carolina. LaCouture has played in 326 NHL games, most recently with Boston in 2005-2006.
Other free agents to have tryouts are forwards Brett Theberge and Ryan Weston, defensemen Benn Olson and Ryan McGinnis, and goalie David Leggio.
Here's the camp schedule.Â
