The Carolina Hurricanes haven't made the playoffs the last two years, yet their brand strength is among those sports franchises making the biggest gains, according to one survey.
The second annual Turnkey Team Brand Index, published by the SportsBusiness Journal, had the Hurricanes making the fifth-best index-swing increase, in terms of brand strength. That's better than either the Philadelphia Flyers or the Phillies.
Most of the franchises making the biggest improvement were playoff teams, so the Canes are an exception.
