Melissa Exum, the longtime dean of students at UNC-Chapel Hill, is headed west.
Exum has been named vice president for student affairs at Purdue University in Indiana. She has been the dean of students at Carolina since 1998, and in 2005 added "associate vice chancellor for student affairs" to her credentials.
Exum has a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest, a master's from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and a doctorate from Ohio University.
She begins work at Purdue Aug. 2.

I've not familiar with Ms Exum which is likely to her credit. UNC staffers that "make news" usually do so for reasons that trouble "people like me".
