A fast-growing information technology services company is shifting its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to downtown Raleigh.
CloudBearing is starting out with 10 employees locally -- five of whom are being transferred and five of whom are local hires. Including its satellite offices, the company has a total of 18 employees, double the number of a year ago.
"We're 100 percent cloud-focused," said CEO Nick Vossburg, who co-founded the business in 2011. "Our mission is to help organizations successfully transition to cloud computing."
Vossburg said the company spent a year scoping out the best site for its new headquarters.
"Raleigh quickly rose to the top," he said. "One, because there is a great pool of talent in the Raleigh-Durham area."
The region also enables "a high quality of life, but at the same time a reasonable cost of living for our employees," Vossburg added.
CloudBearing has leased 7,687 square feet of space on West Martin Street in the Warehouse District.
Vossburg anticipates the company will double in size over the next 12 months by adding 18 new hires. About a dozen of those hires are likely to be local, he added.
