A new online job-searching tool, unveiled by U.S. Department of Labor
Thursday, is intended to assist job seekers and allow anyone to explore potential careers based on their interests.
The new website is aimed at providing visitors with information on more than 900 occupations, as well as local job openings and training opportunities in a simple and user-friendly format.
“This administration is committed to expanding opportunities for all Americans,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, in a prepared statement. “That includes ensuring all workers – those with years of experience and those just entering the
workforce – have the information they need to make informed career
decisions and get good jobs.”
The new tool may be especially useful for students, young adults and other first-time workers, who are seeking career guidance towards their interests
and popular jobs that are well into the future.
This website allows users to search for jobs by three categories: careers
with a “bright outlook” in growing industries, jobs that are part of the
“green” economy and occupations that have a Registered Apprenticeship
Each selected occupation has a clear one-page profile, which includes the
companies’ information, requirements of applying and salary information.
