Turbine blade manafacturer expanding in Forsyth County; adding 55 jobs

A turbine blade manufacturer announced Friday that it will expand its operations in Forsyth County and create 55 jobs over the next five years.

Ellwood Advanced Components will invest $33 million in its facility in Rural Hall, about 15 miles north of Winston Salem.

The company received a $188,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

The average annual wage of the new jobs will be $49,028, plus benefits. The Forsyth County average is $42,588.

Ellwood Advanced Components, which makes turbine blades for steam and gas-powered turbines, is a subsidiary of the Ellwood Group.  The Ellwood Group is a steel manufacturing and forging company with operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Michigan and Canada.

Ellwood Advanced Components employs 145 people at its Rural Hall facility.
