Target announced today that it is closing its North Raleigh store at 4700 Green Road due to its financial performance.

The store, which opened in 1995, will close Jan. 28.

Store employees will be offered the option of transferring to other nearby stores.

Target operates four other stores in Raleigh, including one at North Hills and one at 7900 Old Wake Forest Road.

The company also has Triangle stores in Apex, Durham, Garner, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Cary and Morrisville.

Sad to See The First Target in Raleigh Close

It was the first Target in Raleigh and I was one of the employees hired to work in HR back in 1994. All of the other Target stores in Raleigh started taking business away from it by the late 90's. They just had too many and the neighborhood has always been marginal.

Considering there is

Considering there is a Super Target at Triangle Town Center less than a mile away, its surprising they hadn't chose to close it sooner.

Not up to Target standards

This Target has gone downhill in recent years. Most of their stores are bright and clean, but not this one.

Target North Raleigh Store Closing

Surprise! Surprise!  I stopped shopping at that Target some time ago.  I love Target, but I hate that store.  I work right across the street but refuse to shop at that store because they have the worst customer service I have ever seen.  I dont shop where I am treated poorly.  It appears I must not be the only person that feels that way.
