New single-family building permits were up 35 percent in Wake County through the first eight months of the year, according to data compiled by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County.
Compared to the first six months of last year, permits are up in all Wake County municipalities except Garner, where they are down 69 percent, and Morrisville, where they are flat.
The biggest percentage increase through the first half of the year was in Wendell and Zebulon, where permits have increased from just 11last year to 77 this year. In Rolesville, permits increased from 104 to 217.
Permits were up 76 percent in Fuquay-Varina, 31 percent in Raleigh, 56 percent in Apex and 29 percent in Cary.
There were 18 percent more permits issued in August than in the same month last year.
