Former N.C. State University quarterback Russell Wilson, who played his final year of college football at Wisconsin, has retained Raleigh communications agency French/West/Vaughn.
French/West will handle marketing, public relations and endorsements for Wilson. Among French/West's other sports clients: Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, All-Pro running back Arian Foster and Glover Quin, a strong safety for the Houston Texans.
"We are convinced Russell is going to be an outstanding player in the NFL and, more importantly, we know he is a man of great character and a great role model," agency founder and CEO Rick French said in a statement.
French/West also announced Thursday that Russell has just signed an endorsement deal with Nike. Wilson is poised to be selected in the NFL draft, which begins Thursday.
Wilson was the first freshman quarterback to be named to the All-ACC first team and was also the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2008. Last season he led Wisconsin to an 11-3 record and an appearance in the Rose Bowl and was named Big Ten Quarterback of the Year.
