You can apply for a job at this year's State Fair starting today. Simply go by the Cary or Raleigh office of the Employment Security Commission and fill out an application.
The ESC usually helps vendors at the State Fair hire between 250 to 400 people, said ESC spokesman Larry Parker.
Jobs include everything from assembling and taking down the rides to cooking and cleaning. Pay is typically minimum wage, Parker said, but added that vendors may pay more for heavy labor or for someone who turns out to be a dedicated worker.
They want someone who's dependable and will come back each day over the course of the fair, he said.
This year's fair is Oct. 15-25 at the fairgrounds on Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. The ESC will accept applications through Oct. 23 at its offices at 3351 Carl Sandburg Court in Raleigh and at 742-F E. Chatham St. in Cary.
