Microsoft to open holiday pop-up store in Durham

Bookmark and Share

Microsoft is rolling out its Windows 8 operating system this fall with the help of more than 30 holiday pop-up retail stores, including a store that will be located at the Streets of Southpoint.

The pop-up store will open around late October and stay open through Christmas. It will be located on the mall’s lower level, near the center court.

Southpoint marketing manager Ashley Warrick said Microsoft has not yet released other details about the pop-up store yet, including how many workers will be hired and when.

The Durham Microsoft pop-up store will be one of two in North Carolina, along with one located at Southpark Mall in Charlotte.

Microsoft said the stores are a way for customers to try out new technologies. This fall, the company launches its new Windows 8 operating system, as well as new devices using the system, including the Windows Surface tablet.
