The Martin + Osa store in Raleigh's Crabtree Valley Mall will close as a part of a chain-wide shut-down by parent company American Eagle.
The chain, which has 28 stores, sells men's and women's clothing aimed at a clientele older than American Eagle's core teen customers. But the idea never took off with consumers.
According to American Eagle, Martin + Osa lost about $44 million in the company's last fiscal year, which ended in January. Without solid returns, the company decided not to invest more money.
The company will now focus on its other stores, which include American Eagle stores as well as several spin-off brands including aerie, which sells intimate apparel, and a children's store called 77kids. All of the Martin + Osa stores are expected to close by the summer. There's no word yet on what will replace the store at Crabtree Valley Mall.
