Lowe's says it will rebuild Sanford store

Bookmark and Share

Lowe's Home Improvement will rebuild its Sanford store that was severely damaged by a tornado Saturday evening. The Mooresville-based home improvement company had previously said it was not sure if the store would be rebuilt.

The Sanford store, which opened in 1998, has been condemned by the city, said Lowe's spokeswoman Karen Cobb. Demolition of the remaining structure will start soon, she said, possibly as early as this weekend. The company hopes to reopen the store before the end of the year.

The store's 160 employees, many of whom were heralded as heroes after ushering customers to safety in the back of the store during the storm, were all moved to other nearby Lowe's stores.

Reopening Lowe's

That's pretty nice of that company to look out for their employees.  Glad to see it.

Lowe's is spelled without

Lowe's is spelled without the apostrophe in the headline on the front page of your Web site.

Leveled

This should be easy--both this site and the talking heads at WRAL have repeatedly said the store was leveled. If it is leveled, then there is no need to demolish the rest of the building.

New Sign

Just post a big sign on the top of the new store:  Not A Trailer Park.

NO-BRAINER

Lowe's would have gone down in history as the stupidest retailer in the world if they had chosen not to rebuild the Sanford store. It's the only Lowe's in Lee County and has no other competition!
