Job postings for information technology workers across North Carolina fell in August for the second consecutive month, according to the latest report from the N.C. Technology Association.
A total of 3,770 job openings were posted statewide last month, a drop of 4.8 percent compared with July.
Job openings were down 19 percent compared with a year ago.
"For the IT job market in North Carolina job seekers should lower their expectations in the near term. We don’t see demand like in 2012 to return soon," the report noted.
Nationwide, IT job openings fell 1 percent in August.
One of the few bright spots in the August report was jobs for software development, a sector that increased 1.5 percent. Systems engineering/support declined 3.2 percent and demand for IT managers declined 7.1 percent.
