Video game company Epic Games announced Monday that it has launched a new subsidiary in Seoul, South Korea.
The Cary-based company has formed Epic Games Korea to promote licensing of the company’s Unreal Engine, the enormously popular graphics software used to create video games.
“Epic has been providing Unreal Engine technology to the Korean market for over five years, with the simple goal of helping our customers make better games,” Jay Wilbur, vice president of business development, said in a prepared statement. “We are now expanding our commitment to the Korean game industry by opening a local subsidiary.”
Epic also produces its own games, including the blockbuster “Gears of War” and “Unreal Tournament” franchises.
