US Airways is giving up on its Charlotte to Honolulu direct flight.

The airline will cut the flight on Sept. 8, reports the Charlotte Observer.

US Airways representatives said the flight, which began Dec. 17, did not result in enough traffic.

The newspaper quoted a US Airways employee newsletter: “Our forecasts show that we’re simply not going to generate the revenue we need to continue operating the flight,” Mike Britman, US Airways’ managing director of network planning, said in the newsletter.

Airline officials told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin that the Charlotte-to-Honolulu flights might be revived for a seasonal schedule in future summer.
