Another sign of recovery? Taylor Swift tickets sell out

Bookmark and Share

The recession apparently hasn't trickled down to pre-teen girls and other fans of Taylor Swift.

The country singer's May 1 show at the RBC Center in Raleigh sold out within 30 minutes of tickets going on sale at 10 a.m. today, except for a few scattered single tickets.

Of course, tickets really went on sale earlier this week at Taylor Swift's Web site, so this morning's "official" start at Ticketmaster and the RBC Center box office was mostly for older folks who didn't know any better.

Star performer Taylor Swift

Star performer Taylor Swift continues to draw fans in droves! Songs like "Love Story," “Our Song,” and “White Horse,” have made her a top-draw! Because of that many people are wanting more tickets to watch her concert. Taylor Swift tickets are going to go quick – so when tickets for her next tour go on sale, you're going to want to jump on it quickly. You also have to wonder if Kanye West is going to jump on stage and say how Beyonce had a better tour. (He may get away with it around Taylor Swift, but let's hope he's foolish enough to try it at a Slayer show sometime – that would make some people's day!) Granted, the incident probably helped her career, and it's definitely on the upswing – even with an online cash advance for Taylor Swift tickets, her concerts sell out in an hour.

despite being advertised that way,

we went out to her website earlier in the week and there didn't seem to be any way to buy the tickets. We may have missed something, but we were linked back to Ticketmaster which showed no sales until Friday.

Which makes sense - there were tickets at 10 Friday but not at 10:30. If they were truly on sale earlier, there would have been none.

Maybe they were only available if you had some sort of invitation code.

This is probably the same

This is probably the same crap data the Obama administration is using to conclude the recession is over. What ever happened to "the best and the brightest"?

Just wait till the day of

Just wait till the day of the show. Craigslist will have tix cheap as the next day they are worthless.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip.

sell out may not be to teens

Based on the hundreds, if not thousands, of tickets to the Taylor Swift concert in Raleigh that are currently for sale at very high prices on ebay, stubhub and jumbo tickets, I think it is safe to assume that many of the people/organizations that have purchased tickets never had any intention of attending the concert. Makes it tough on us "older folks" who actually attempted to buy tickets for our kids in response to RBC's email offer of a "pre-sale," and at the actual sale to the public today. While I have no doubt all the tickets will ultimately be sold to actual concert-goers, it is unfortunate, in a recession, that folks will pay well over $100 for tickets originally marketed between $29.50 and $60.

Mygod, is there nothing the

Mygod, is there nothing the libs at the N&O won't use to try and claim the the recession is over.

Hey, how are Hurricanes tickets selling? By that guage the economy is really in the tank!

yes

it's all because they're "libs".  For cripes' sakes what a ridiculous comment.
