PC maker Acer has sued its former president and CEO, now an executive at Lenovo, for breaching a non-compete clause.
Bloomberg News reported the lawsuit against Gianfranco Lanci, which was filed in an Italian court. Lanci, who resigned from Acer last year following a disagreement with the company's chairman over strategy, became a consultant to Lenovo in September and last month was named head of its new EMEA region -- Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
"We believe Mr. Lanci has breached his non-compete measures agreed into willingly by both parties when he left Acer," Acer said in a statement. "We are taking legal action against him in order to protect Acer's rights and interests."
Lenovo, the No. 2 PC maker, is based in China but has a headquarters in Morrisville that employs 1,800 workers.
