State Rep. Mickey Michaux set the tone when Durham County commissioners and administrators compared notes with the county's legislative delegation about the upcoming session Friday.
"Bottom line is," said Michaux, the delegation's 15-term dean, "don't come to us for any money, folks.
"It ain't coming in, so we can't spend it."
County Manager Mike Ruffin responded, "We're here saying don't take any from us."
Right now, Michaux said, the state faces a revenue shortfall of $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion for the current fiscal year, and, "No telling what's going to happen by the end of June."
