Meals-tax opponents open campaign

Durham Citizens Against the Food Tax opens its campaign Wednesday with a 10:30 a.m. press conference is at Devine’s Restaurant & Sports Bar, 904 W. Main St., organizer Dallas Woodhouse said Tuesday.

Woodhouse, a Raleigh resident, is North Carolina director of Americans for Prosperity, a national anti-tax lobbying organization. He said the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People is “working with us,” as well as some Durham restaurant owners.

The group already has a working Web site, www.nodurhamfoodtax.com.
