Durham schools name two new principals

Bookmark and Share

Durham Public Schools and the school board just named two new principals for the 2008-09 school year.

Cornelius Redfearn, an assistant principal at Hope Valley Elementary School, was named the new principal of Lakewood Elementary School. He replaces Elizabeth Shearer, who will become the new principal at the City of Medicine Academy.

At Shepard Middle school, James E. Ingram will become the new principal. He's from Cumberland County, where he's been an assistant principal since 2003.

Ingram replaces Kenneth Barnes, who is taking the helm at Southern High School. And if the shuffling wasn't confusing enough, Barnes is replacing Rod Teal at Southern. Teal is going to Fayetteville Street Elementary School and will be working on an advanced degree.
