Durham Police Dept. investigating one of its own

Durham police are investigating, well, something.

"The Durham Police Department is conducting a criminal and administrative investigation into possible misconduct of a Durham police officer," the department said in a statement earlier today. "The investigation was initiated by the Durham Police Department and has been ongoing."

The release said very little more, attributing the lack of information to personnel privacy laws and the ongoing investigation.

Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr., reached by telephone late this afternoon, wouldn't budge on general questions about what investigators are looking at.
