The Duke Lemur Center has a fascinating blog. You can read about the political situation in Madagascar, the only place in the world where lemurs exist naturally. You can see pictures of a recent surgery on one of the animals. And you can read about this spring's baby boom at the facility (tucked in the woods off old Erwin Road, just south of N.C. 751).
The center's coquerel'ssifakas have had two births. That's Pia and her baby Conrad above. Another female, Drusilla, had a baby named Pompeia.
If you go to the center's web site you can also see pictures of Foster, a blue eyed black lemur that had twins. And a few weeks earlier, the more familiar ring-tailed lemurs had three babies, including another set of twins.
See those pictures and learn how you can "adopt" lemurs and aid the center in its research at the web site.
