North Johnston advanced to the finals of the Johnston United Soccer Association Cup boys prep soccer tournament tonight with a 1-0 victory over South Johnston. North will meet either West Johnston or Clayton in the Cup finals at a date to be determined later.
Rain forced the postponement of Clayton's first round match against Corinth Holders until tonight. The Comets downed the Pirates 9-0 in that match.
North's Tyler Williams scored on a rebound shot. Panthers' goalkeeper Sean Mangum had four key saves against the Trojans down the stretch.
Thursday's schedule of matches at Smithfield-Selma includes two consolation round matches and the Clayton vs. West Johnston semifinal. Corinth Holders meets Cleveland at 4 p.m., followed by Princeton vs. Smithfield-Selma.
The Clayton-West Johnston semifinal will begin at about 8 p.m.
