The N.C. High School Athletic Association girls lacrosse playoffs begin Friday, May 4. Conference champions East Chapel Hill, Green Hope and Cardinal Gibbons received first-round byes. Defending state champ Apex is a 2-seed.

The Carolina League announced today that the Carolina Mudcats Jeremie Tice was named the Player of the Week for the week of April 23-29.
Tice was stellar in a four game series against the Lynchburg Hillcats at Five County Stadium. The slugger from Dacula, Ga., was 9-for-14 with three home runs, three doubles, seven RBI and six runs scored. He finished the week with a .643 batting average.
The 25-year-old leads the Mudcats with four home runs and 18 driven in. Hes raised his batting average to .328.

Boys dual-team tennis pairings for the first round
The Eastern Carolina 3A Conference will begin its baseball, softball and girls soccer conference tournaments all on Tuesday. Play continues through Friday in soccer and next Monday in baseball and softball.
All games will begin at 6 p.m. and be played at the higher seeded school.

The Duke University women's volleyball team is coming to Neuse CharterSchool Tuesday to conduct a volleyball camp for the greater Johnston County area. The camp for grades 5-8 us from 3:45 - 5:45 p.m. with check-in at 3:30pm. Grades 9 - 12 go from 6:30 until 8:30 with check-in at 6:15.
The camp is limited to the first 20 fully-registered athletes for each session; stand-bys will be invited into the gym on a first-comefirst-serve basis if space is available. The cost for the camp is $30 per athlete and the camp will provide college-level instruction from bothDuke coaches and players.
