West Johnston High School senior Sarah Henry verbally committed to Texas A&M on Tuesday night. Henry received full scholarship offers from Stanford, Texas and A&M, according to her father, Brian Henry.

Henry is a two-time NCHSAA 4-A state individual champion, winning the 500 freestyle in the 2008-09 season and the 100 butterfly in the 2006-07 state finals. She also competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.

The Aggies finished eighth in last season's NCAA Division I Diving and Swimming Championships.

About the blogger

D. Clay Best has served as the sports editor of The Herald since 1997 and has covered high school sports since 1992. He's gone through many neighborhoods of NFL-fandom including the Cowboys, Raiders and Patriots and is in limbo right now. If that's not enough to require therapy, he also has way too much brain space filled with useless info on the legendary '80s TV series "Miami Vice."
