Benson's John Raynor makes Southern League All-Star team

Benson native John Raynor has been selected to play in the Southern League All-Star Game on July 14 at Five County Stadium. Raynor was actually optioned to Single-A Greensboro after Saturday night's game but is expected to be back in action for the Mudcats by the end of this week.

He pinched a nerve sliding into third during Saturday's game and was expected to miss a handful of games with tightness in his back. Raynor is hitting .289 for Carolina.

Joining him on the Northern Division roster will be Mudcats' players Gaby Sanchez, Chris Coghlan, Cameron Maybin, Chris Mobley and Chris Volstad.
