Area prep fall tryout start times

Bookmark and Share

High school sports practices get rolling late tonight (Saturday after midnight on Friday) with Midnight Madness football events at Clayton and North Johnston. I'll be in attendance at Clayton and we're covering North's as well. The rest of the Johnston County/Garner area football teams get rolling on Saturday morning.

Tryouts for all non-football fall sports can begin on Monday.  Here's a rundown of the start times we've received here at the Garner-Clayton Record and The Herald of Johnston County sports office.

Remember: Student-athletes must have a completed physical form turned into their coach before participating. Physical forms are available in the main office at each school. This listing includes only the tryout times and dates we were able to run down.

Schools are listed in alphabetical order.

About the blogger

D. Clay Best has served as the sports editor of The Herald since 1997 and has covered high school sports since 1992. He's gone through many neighborhoods of NFL-fandom including the Cowboys, Raiders and Patriots and is in limbo right now. If that's not enough to require therapy, he also has way too much brain space filled with useless info on the legendary '80s TV series "Miami Vice."
