In a bit of a changeup, our Chapel Hill homeboy Anoop Desai went first on "American Idol" this week -- covering Usher's "Caught Up." Unfortunately, the judges were mostly unimpressed. Randy Jackson said that Desai sang well but didn't pull off the performance, while Kara Dioguardi sniffed that, "It seemed like some frat guys dared you to get up and sing Usher." Mean judge Simon Cowell was even harsher, branding Desai's performance "a complete and utter mess... (that) actually gave me a headache."
