On the Beat

On the Beat: David Menconi on music

News & Observer music critic David Menconi's random (and we do mean random) musings about all things related to music and culture of the "popular" variety.

The obligatory Alejandro Escovedo update

Bookmark and Share

Fresh from his Democratic National Convention star turn last week, Alejandro Escovedo is getting his tour back into high gear -- including the choice network-television exposure he missed out on last month due to health issues. Escovedo's upcoming itinerary includes next Thursday, Sept. 11, on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,"  which will be a perfect primer for his Oct. 23 show at Cat's Cradle.

Catch both, so I can stop harranguing you.

I will be driving 3 hours to come see Alejandro. And I know he will be SO worth it.

Alejandro has my deepest

Alejandro has my deepest respect, love, admiration.

He is dynamic LIVE and I have seen him many times.

He takes risks in the music he puts out, always challenging us and himself.

Nobody can rock out as hard as he, yet he caresses a ballad like noone else can, I am in awe always.

Hope to catch him on Leno and am envious you get to see him at Cat's Cradle in October.

I do

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, misguided though it may be. ;>

Who cares? This guy is easy

Who cares? This guy is easy listening for the "too cool for school" crowd. So yes, please stop harranguing us
