The devil went down to Raleigh Downtown Live

Bookmark and Share

More acts are popping up on the Raleigh Downtown Live schedule, most notably the Charlie Daniels Band (featuring Wilmington native Daniels) on July 25. Gee, how many times you think he'll play his biggest hit?

Also new to the schedule is another alt-rock band that peaked in the mid-'90s, Filter on June 13; alongside the similarly vibed Candlebox, still down for the season-opening show on May 30.

Dickey Betts & Great Southern

would be even better than CDB. With DB penned Allman Brothers Band classics like Revival, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Blue Sky, Ramblin' Man, etc. It'd be a GRAND time! Plus he hasn't played the Triangle area since 2004(Carrboro) and has only played the area twice since being fired from the Allman Brothers Band in 2001.

last summer....

....The Wailer's were fronted by some waanabe white Bob Marley, he even danced like Bob .... it coulda been ok but the music was was too paint by numbers tribute for me.... and the one original Wailer was hiding in the back corner of the stage, barely going thru the motions....

but one the worst moments in live music history was a reggae version of "Feel Like Making Love" by the dude from Bad Company.... awful and an insult to music in general....

Nightranger, mocked by some, actually was a good time, at least the were the real deal....

DL is not a music event, it's an excuse to advertise cheap beer... since 95% of the attendees could care less who's on stage....

my two cents....

downtown live

diversity please I hate to play the race card but where are the black bands? my father always says music has no colorand I agree but I think the organizers of this event could have had music of different backgrounds.

Lovely

CDBand...I can deal with that, but they other lameo, washed up rockbands like Filter, et al. no surprise there from Deep South, who do a good job with the organization, are merely promoting the washed out rock in rotation on 96 rock.

More acts? What about the poor parts of raleigh

Meeker who is a Secular-Progressive is doing alot about downtown Raleigh. He is spending money we do not have and then will ask for a OBAMA handout.
What about the murders right down the street from the Governor's mansion and the rise in crime in Raleigh?
Remember bobos that the Democrats run this town and state and any issue you have is with them. Stop the Bush bashing a realize that Democrats like yourselves are responsible for everything that happens here.

Hey Einstein

Do you realize Raleigh and the triangle are in the top 5 currently in terms of the economy?

Bush supporters= void of facts.  They cannot recognize they failed.  Conservatism is dead and the republicans will be out of power for a generation.   The one thing i thank Bush for, is that he made our country and the world recognize, republicans are idiots.

re: Hey Einstein

All Republicans are idiots huh?!?!  Regan, Condi Rice, MLK, Jackie Robinson, Gerald Ford, Teddy Roosevelt, just to name a few.  What would you consider these folks?  By the way, I don't agree with all of Bush's decisions, but you have to admit Bush has made our country safer.

SAFER????

Creating thousands if not millions more people around the world that hate us, does not make us safer.

Charlie & Hannity

Great, a plaza full of Bush supporters, add it all up and their combined IQ isn't above 50.

Moonshine on Moore Square

Is Charlie's sidekick Sean Hannity showing up to sing back up on the devil song. Hannity sings the Devil's part. When do the buses leave Smithfeild and Selma. This would be a good night to set up a DWI/Immigration stop on I-40 east just at the Johnston county line.

I am sure the moonshine will be flowing on Moore Square.
