News & Observer music critic David Menconi's random (and we do mean random) musings about all things related to music and culture of the "popular" variety.
By now, there's a canon for just about everything -- including rock history's greatest guitar smashes. Check it out, even if John Hiatt would not approve. I think my favorite is No. 7, "'Priceless' Kid."
(Thanks, Bob.)

Bricks!
Sun, 08/02/2009 - 10:53 — rossgradyDude, how can you toss off even a two-sentence quickie about guitar-smashing without referring to the canonical "You Shouldn't Have Smashed Your Guitar" by Merge recording artists Bricks? (Even if you don't own a copy of A Microphone and a Box of Dirt, the track is also on 5 Rows of Teeth -- pull it out & re-listen!)
