Nature Research Center evokes veteran cosmic rockers of old

Bookmark and Share

Long ago and far away, during my high school days, my friends and I spent more than a few weekend nights partaking of Laserium concerts at the local planetarium in Denver. Though mightly primitive by today's standards, the whole laser-rock thing was pretty head-spinning for 1978, as we'd watch laser doodles throbbing away to the music of Pink Floyd or Little Feat and let our minds go wandering off to distant galaxies. Don't hate. It was the '70s and the Internet was still a ways off.

Anyway, I recently found myself remembering that experience while checking out Patterns of (or possibly by) Nature, a very cool multi-media display in the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences' new Nature Research Center. You'll have to wait for the grand opening next month to sample it yourself. Meantime, there's a story about it in today's paper, plus a photo gallery.
