Delaney Bramlett, rest in peace

Bookmark and Share

Sad news from the West Coast on a Saturday night: Delaney Bramlett has passed away. The cause of death was complications from gall bladder surgery, and he was 69 years old.

As co-ringleader of the rock-soul ensemble Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, Bramlett made key contributions to the careers of Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker in the 1970s -- check out this jam session. More recently, D&B&F served as a primary inspiration for local gal Tift Merritt's Grammy-nominated 2004 album "Tambourine."
