White shuts down East Carolina bats

Bookmark and Share

CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina's Alex White earned his sixth career NCAA Tournament victory, a school record, in a 10-1 win over East Carolina in the first game of a best-of-three Super Regional series at Boshamer Stadium Saturday.

White actually started out shaky, giving up a solo home run in the second inning, before he settled in and threw a career-high 12 strikeouts.

The North Carolina bats bursted for seven runs, six earned, in the sixth inning, as East Carolina's Seth Maness took the loss, allowing six earned runs on 13 hits.

Game 2 is at noon Sunday at Boshamer. If East Carolina can rebound, it would set up a third and final game Monday at Boshamer.

This is not over,

but I'm quite sure ECU has a "this just isn't our turn" bug in their minds now. UNC is peaking nicely, and it was nice to see White earn a win against his hometown team. I don't see it getting ant easier for ECU on Sunday. I see UNC playing in the CWS for the 4th year in a row. I sincerely hope the 4th time's the charm for the boys in Championship Blue.

Where is Carlton (Mr. ECU)

Where is Carlton (Mr. ECU) Tudor now with yet another "respect shtick" article. The reality is that UNC owns ECU, on the diamond, on the court, on the field, and when ECU consistently beats UNC, as UNC does to ECU, then ECU will deserve some respect. Until then, they can just get in line, and keep their respect shtick to themselves. No body else cares.
Win consistently and you earn respect. When ECU fans moan and whine about not getting any respect, they only confirm that they do not deserve any respect.
Their Rodney Dangerfield routine is comical at best.
keep it to yourselves, ECU Fans, nobody else cares.

Reality is this

Reality is this Platowasright, chances that you actually attended UNC are 20%.  ECU and UNC do not play in basketball which rules out your "owning" them.  ECU won last time they played in football which rules out you "owning" them there since the last time they played before that was in the dark ages.  During the baseball season they split the two game series including a 4-0 shutout in Greenville.  ECU has won against UNC and will continue to do so especially come this fall when Butch goes 0-3 vs. the Pirates.  Your inferiority complex is your own problem because ECU sure doesn't feel that way towards the Tar-Holes...we know we're superior.
