Sands has best night as a Dodger so far

Bookmark and Share

Former Smithfield-Selma High star Jerry Sands, a rookie with the Los Angeles Dodgers, had the first three-hit night of his career Monday in Miami. Sands had hits in each of his first three at bats, including a double and an RBI single, and finished the night 3-for-4.

He's hitting .233 through eight games with the Dodgers, playing in all but one of LA's games since his call up.

About the blogger

D. Clay Best has served as the sports editor of The Herald since 1997 and has covered high school sports since 1992. He's gone through many neighborhoods of NFL-fandom including the Cowboys, Raiders and Patriots and is in limbo right now. If that's not enough to require therapy, he also has way too much brain space filled with useless info on the legendary '80s TV series "Miami Vice."
