The Carolina Mudcats are in a dead heat with the Huntsville Stars for the North Division title with one game left in the Southern League's first half.

The first-half winner in each division claims a berth in the postseason playoffs.

The Mudcats and Stars each lost Saturday night, leaving the teams tied with 37-31 records. Should a tie remain after Sunday, the tie-breaker will be a meeting between the Mudcats and Stars in Huntsville on July 21st.

The Mudcats, who lost 7-0 Saturday at Tennessee, close out the first half with a game against the Smokies today at 5 p.m. Carolina's Alexander Smit will be taken off the disabled list ahead of Sunday's game to start against the Smokies' Casey Lambert.

Huntsville lost at Birmingham on Saturday, 8-1. The Stars and Barons finish out the first half with a 3:05 p.m. game.
