Duke can give Heels a boost

Bookmark and Share

North Carolina baseball fans should be cheering hard for Duke in today's 4 p.m. game that matches the Blue Devils and Clemson at the ACC Baseball Championships.

A Duke win today at Durham Bulls Athletic Park would give the Tar Heels a chance to clinch a berth in the championship game with a victory Friday night against Virginia.

It is a similar scenario to the one that allowed Florida State to clinch a spot in the championship game with a win over Miami on Thursday.

If Duke and North Carolina both win on Friday, North Carolina would be 2-0 in the division with wins over Duke and Virginia. Clemson, which lost 6-5 to Virginia on Thursday night, would be 0-2.

That would leave UNC as the Division B winner regardless of what happens on Saturday.
