No-hitters are hard to come by in baseball. St. Augustine's managed to beat the odds twice on Sunday.
Falcons Brandon Stewart and Ryan Wood each pitched seven-inning no-hitters as St. Aug's blasted Lincoln (Pa.) 10-1 and 25-2 in a doubleheader at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary.
In the opener, Stewart struck out six batters. It was the second no-hitter for Stewart, a sophomore from Atlanta, in his collegiate career.
Wood, a sophomore from Chester, Va., struck out seven in the second game.
There was another noteworthy feat for St. Aug's -- Rashad Ingram had nine of the Falcons' 20 stolen bases in the two games.
St. Augustine's improved to 4-8, while Lincoln dropped to 0-9.
