Eastern Wake Buzz
Change has become a constant in our world these days. All over the eastern Wake County region the landscape is changing. But one thing remains the same. We still share a strong common interest in what’s happening in our community. The Eastern Wake News blog -- now called the Eastern Wake Buzz -- is the place to go to learn about the changes taking place in our part of the world and to share your thoughts on the news of the day. Regular entries are posted by news staffers Brian High, Aaron Moody, Denise Sherman and Johnny Whitfield. We’d love to share the latest buzz with you. We can’t wait to read your comments and insights.
Follow up: Perfection
After beating South Central 17-0 I didn't see East Wake's summer league team having a very hard time at Enloe, but the Eagle pride hung in there and only took a one-run smack on the cheek, 3-2.
Warrior coach Kerry Kincaid said it was one of the poorer showings at bat from his team all year.
The win took the Warriors to 14-0, one game from a perfect season.
Monday's game at Wake Forest-Rolesville proved what East Wake has worked hard to prove. Perfection came in an 8-2 season closer, along with a grand slam from Taylor Griswold – icing the cake, of course.
The team averaged less than one error per game over the course of the season, and many batters averaged over .500 at the plate. Nate Lusk, for example, averaged a .620. These numbers look like slugging percentages, but don't be fooled. Get out and go to a playoff game and see what all the fuss is about.
East Wake scored a bye from round one play, but plays tomorrow (Thursday) night at Apex at 8 p.m. The team escaped the regular season 15-0, and will be looking to add more to the left side of the column.
